Frequently Asked Questions
Care:
Since my fibers and yarn are mainly wool, I suggest you handwash them gently in cold water and lay them flat to dry.
I wash and rinse everything thoroughly, however, minor bleeding can occur during the first few washes.
WPI and yarn weight:
For every skein of yarn I spin, I measure the WPI (= wraps per inch) in multiple places and then take the average of those measurements.
Next I categorize the yarn using this average WPI as follows:
19-22 WPI --> Fingering (category 1, super fine)
15-18 WPI --> Sport (category 2, fine)
12-14 WPI --> DK (category 3, light)
09-11 WPI --> Worsted (category 4, medium)
07-08 WPI --> Heavy worsted (category 5, bulky)
01-06 WPI --> Bulky (category 6, super bulky)
